At Velvet Vogue, fashion has always been about feeling comfortable, confident, and yourself—at every age.

My name is Michelle, I’m 62, and together with my husband Jacob, who is 64, I run our family fashion business. Our story began in our physical store, where conversations with customers became one of my favorite parts of the day. Helping someone find a piece they feel wonderful in still brings me so much joy.

Our physical store remains a special part of our lives. Bringing Velvet Vogue online gave us a way to share that same personal approach with women beyond our own neighborhood.

Today, our 25-year-old daughter works alongside us, bringing her own sense of style and plenty of fresh ideas. We don’t always choose the same favorites, but that’s part of the fun. We look for pieces we would feel good wearing ourselves—comfortable, easy to style, and suited to everyday life.

Our son Liam is 19, and we’ve decided he’ll wait a little longer before helping in the store. Perhaps he’ll join us in the future, when the time feels right. For now, he’s still very much part of the family behind Velvet Vogue.

As I’ve grown older, my relationship with fashion has changed. I care more about how something feels, how naturally it fits into my wardrobe, and whether I’ll enjoy wearing it again and again. That perspective helps guide the pieces we choose, alongside our daughter’s fresh outlook.
